Why Bad Players?
Well we had a home game of extremely micro stakes and in a row of 2 hands a friend of ours lost all her chips. Two buy-ins, two hands lost. She then called us a bunch of bad players. Obviously, the name stuck and now we call ourselves Bad Players.
This explanation as to why this blog is called Bad Player’s Den was written 2 years ago, about exactly the same time when the home games at Bad Player’s Den stopped for a lot of different reasons that need not be explained in this blog.
A lot has happened to the members of Bad Player’s Den.
Emperor (I’m using aliases) is currently the Philippine National Champion of Magic the Gathering.
Fairy Dragon is a successful producer/organizer of Magic the Gathering.
Steamed Lapu-Lapu has placed 7th in the Filipino Poker Tour ’09.
Fetus has won the FHM Premier Tournament at the Metro Card Club while his wife Venus has decided to just stake players instead of play.
The Dynamic Duo have decided to become bloggers with a successful NBA Fantasy and self-improvement blog to their name.
R&B Singer went back to television and is one of the producer/writers of the televised Filipino Poker Tour.
The Great Wyrm has wormed his way out of the game and has cast an invisibility spell on himself (Wish I had detect invisible or detect evil in arms length).
And finally, Bad Player herself (that’s me) has evolved from being a professional poker player, to a FPT TV show producer/writer, to a contributor of poker/gaming magazines, to marketing officer of the biggest poker room in the country.
Do we still see each other? Yes. As a matter of fact, we may just revive the home game, maybe after a series of role-playing sessions. Go 4th Ed.
Do we all still play poker? For sure. Well maybe except for the Great Wyrm.
Are we still bad players? Without a doubt. It’s very hard to go against one’s nature.
